The small print, in plain English
Accessibility statement
Last updated 21 October 2026
PTA Central should be easy for everyone to use, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or voice control.
1. Our aim
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA on this website, on the websites we give PTAs and in the members’ area. That target is what we design and test against; we haven’t had an independent audit yet.
2. What we do
- Pages work with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to content” link.
- Headings, labels and landmarks are marked up properly for screen readers, and pictures have text descriptions where they carry meaning.
- Text and buttons have strong colour contrast, and text can be enlarged to 200% without breaking the page.
- Pages work on small screens without sideways scrolling.
- Animation is kept gentle, and switched off if you’ve asked your device to reduce motion.
- Plain English everywhere, with short sentences and no jargon.
- Public pages are drawn on the server, so they’re fast and their information doesn’t depend on JavaScript.
3. Things we know about
- Signing up, sponsoring and the contact form need JavaScript. If that’s a problem, email us and we’ll help.
- Some tutorial videos have no sound; each has captions describing the steps.
- Content a PTA adds itself, such as photos and uploaded documents, may not always be accessible. PTAs can add a description to each picture they put on their website.
4. Tell us about a problem
If something on PTA Central is hard to use, or you need information in a different format, email hello@ptacentral.co.uk. We’ll reply within five working days and fix what we can.
