Works for every PTA

There’s one PTA Central app for everyone. The first time you open it, type your PTA’s web address, scan the QR code from your members’ area, or search for your PTA by name. From then on it shows your PTA’s own name, logo and colours. On more than one committee? Keep several PTAs on one phone.

Events and door check-in

See what’s coming up, sign up to help, and see the rota. On the night, scan each ticket’s QR code at the door and see straight away whether it’s paid, or find people by name. When it’s over, two people count the cash box together.

Snap a receipt and claim it back

Bought squash for the disco? Take a photo of the receipt and the supplier, date and amount fill themselves in. Check them, choose the event, and send. You can follow your claim until the money’s in your account.

Approve claims anywhere

Treasurers and trustees can approve or turn down claims from their phone, with the receipt right there. Nobody can approve their own claim, and bigger claims need two people.

Event photo albums

Add pictures to each event’s album straight from the camera roll. They’re made smaller before they’re sent, so they don’t fill your phone or your PTA’s storage. Tag them, and mark the ones that are OK for the website.

Chat and polls

Group chats for the committee and each event team, direct messages, pictures, replies and reactions. Need a decision? Start a quick poll and watch the votes come in.

Face ID and fingerprint sign-in

Sign in with your password and two-step code once, then use Face ID or your fingerprint. Each sign-in uses a one-time key from your phone’s secure storage, replaced every time. If an old key is ever used again, Face ID sign-in is switched off for that phone and you get an email.

Notifications

A nudge when something needs you

A claim to approve, a new chat message, a task that’s due. You choose which notifications you get, and they never include children’s details.

Private by design

The app isn’t a social network. Only people your PTA invites can sign in, and each person sees only what their role allows.

Your PTA’s information is stored in the UK (Amazon Web Services, London). Notifications reach your phone through Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging, with a short title and message, never children’s details. On the phone, the app keeps your sign-in in the phone’s secure storage, and a copy of the lists you’ve opened so they load quickly and work with a weak signal. Signing out removes them.

How we keep your PTA safe

Getting the app

  1. Your PTA invites you from its members’ area, and you choose a password.
  2. Download PTA Central from the App Store or Google Play.
  3. Type your PTA’s address (like hillside.ptacentral.co.uk), or scan the QR code under Security in the members’ area.
  4. Sign in, and turn on Face ID or fingerprint sign-in if you like.
